Bike Racing

I'm middle-of-the-pack Sport when it comes to ordinary cross-country MTB racing, but I'm going up to expert this year anyway. Around here there isn't much difference between the ability of a sport racer and an expert. The experts just hold their heads a bit higher.

I'm not a sprinter and not a fast climber though I am steady. I can downhill pretty fast, I'm a good technical rider and I am consistent and steady over the long haul. And I can go just about as fast at night as I can in daylight.

I don't take myself too seriously, but I do enjoy racing. Not so much traditional X/C these days, more of the all-day or all-day/all-night variety.
