Leadville Trail 100 Mountain Bike Race - 2007

"The Race Across the Sky"

My experience in 2006 told me that I understand this event.

I went in to the '07 race knowing how to prepare, what to bring, what to expect.

My goal was once again to break 11 hours. This year the weather story was hot. That's OK though, hot works for me. I am not a cramper, and I usually have no problem keeping adequately hydrated.

I was fit in summer '07, I had no mechanicals. I had a fast new bike, the Lenz Sport Leviathan 4.0 and it was just right for this event.

Basically, it went better than I could have imagined. My time was 10:25:35 for 310th place overall. A full hour faster than 2006 and beating my personal best by 50 minutes. Fully satisfied.

I'm going to let someone else have my spot for 2008. I have achieved my goal for Leadville, and I'm going to go looking for new challenges. Good luck to all the Leadville racers in the future. Rock on.
