This ride can be done in about 90 minutes from Salida, and it is often doable almost 12 months out of the year. Most years there is too much snow in January and February, but almost always it's there for you from March through December. Cold maybe, but with great views, and 2,500 honest to goodness feet of climbing!
It's all dirt road or doubletrack, though some of it is pretty technical. But the best part is the long view. Here are some of the shots you get:
